“Justinflation tagline works now better than ever”: Trudeau, Poilievre clash on carbon pricing
In the Canadian government’s third day back in Parliament, much of Wednesday’s Question Period session saw Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre butting heads over the Liberal carbon pricing initiative.
After Poilievre made a dig at the Liberal’s former partner (the NDP) for voting “24 times for the carbon tax,” Trudeau said the opposition leader was “in a bad mood because inflation has come down for Canadians.”
“The Justinflation tagline works now better now than ever,” Poilievre quipped back. “[Trudeau] can try to call himself Rocky Balboa and play fight song to aggrandize himself as the star, but the people lined up at food banks – 2 million of them every month – know better,” he added.
“We’re going to continue to fight climate change and invest in a strong economy for the future, while the leader of the opposition continues to deny climate change and cut programs and services the Canadians rely on,” Trudeau said after criticizing Poilievre for having a “do-nothing-plan” and instead focusing on “slogans and personal attacks.”
